Finally – A Way To Quit Smoking Without Willpower! (and It Was There All The Time!)
A therapist from the UK believes he has uncovered the "missing link" for smokers – it's your emotions. And he claims that by using a technique known as NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), you can not only get free in a matter of hours, but you need no willpower and will never have cravings again.
Read on…
There is some "standardised" advice about how to quit smoking that makes me want to scream!
Here's one classic: "Plan the day when you're going to stop smoking. Put it on your calendar."
Effect: every time you look at that calendar you'll feel a pang of anxiety – and what will you do? You'll smoke another cigarette, that's what! As if there could be a "good time" to give up smoking!
Have you noticed how non smokers cope with everything from stress to coffee without once ever wishing they smoked? (There's a big clue in there about how easy it is to quit smoking…Read on!)
Here's another piece of useless "accepted wisdom" that the stop smoking gurus dish out: "Make sure you've got lots of support." Who from? Others who stopped with you? Then it will just be a test of wills to see who holds out the longest, or who's the sneakiest, or who cheats first. Or maybe you're meant to get your support from those supercilious, self-righteous ex smokers who tell you how easy it is to quit! (They're lucky they don't end up with bloody noses then!) Most useless of all, get the help from people who've never smoked, as if they could have the first idea what you're going through!!
Fear not – help is at hand! At last it is possible to quit smoking without willpower, without nicotine replacement patches or gum, without needles and even without hypnosis!
The magic formula? Brain replacement!
(Just teasing).
No, it's the simplest, most overlooked, most obvious thing of all. Isn't it always? It's emotion!
You see, the problem with all those other methods is that they don't stop you from wanting one. ("Nicotine patch anyone?" "No thanks, I'd rather have a smoke!") And if you want one, you'll use willpower to resist until … until your heart wins over your head.
If you're a smoker, you already know it's sheer madness to smoke. You don't need to be told! (But behold! The tobacco companies tell you themselves on the packaging! Why? Because those great big warnings make you feel a pang of anxiety, and guess what you'll do then? You've got it! You'll spark up another smoke!! Oh yes, those big boys know what they're doing). Logically, you know you shouldn't smoke. So if you could quit logically, you would.
So then we are told it's a habit. But hold on! Habits are easy to break! If they weren't, you'd be like Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man. A habit that you yourself wish you didn't do should be a piece of cake!
Addiction is not, I repeat NOT physical. It's psychological. To be more accurate, it's emotional – and the emotion is FEAR. Fear of smoking for life, (until early death in other words), and fear of never being able to smoke again. And the circle is squared because smoking appears to relieve fear!
Ta Daaa! You're trapped. But not by nicotine! You're trapped by your own mind – which is great news because minds are easy to change!
For a cigarette, (pipe, cigar), smoker, nicotine may be the source of the problem, but it is not the cause of it! The cause is in your head, and it's an easy pattern to break! Using NLP I have devised a method which will leave you in a place, mentally, where you have no more desire for a cigarette than a vegetarian does for a steak. You don't see them using willpower to resist meat, do you? ("Oh, I'd love to have some beef bourguignon, dear, but I was up to almost twenty a day. Oh go on, then, I suppose one little bite won't hurt …" Nope! Sounds ridiculous!)
Nicotine withdrawal? About the same level of discomfort as wearing your watch on the opposite wrist for a couple of days! And gone in 48 to 72 hours! (Nicotine is a powerful insecticide. If it didn't leave your body quickly, you'd die!)
Do you need to plan the day? No. Just acquire a set of these audio CD's and listen to them. Once should be enough, but you can always sit through it again if you want.
Do you need help? Do vegetarians have to hold hands at barbeques? I rest my case!
The feeling of being addicted to smoking is nothing more than a repeated psychological pattern which is easily broken.
Nothing to want equals no need for willpower, since there's nothing to resist either!
